If she could change one thing about women’s racing, what would it be?

“Money,” she says. “If we could put on a five-day race, that grows the sport.” And while men’s events typically cover travel costs, women’s races do not (Phillips is comping entries, hosting a pre-race dinner and providing some teams with host housing—the best she can do).

As part of her practical nature, Phillips says that running women’s races alongside men’s is the smart approach—to share resources and exposure. With the Pro Challenge already going, it seems like much of the potential support is already there.

She, and women’s racing, just needs a little help.
