Anonymous asked: I guess I should know, but it's so easy to ask here . . . why do they call it the Brain Wash tour ?
It’s because Brainwash is the name of a chain of Dutch hairdressers! They’re a great company, they also used to sponsor a cyclocross team, and have come on board as a co-sponsor of Rabobank - so you’ll see Marianne Vos with “Brainwash” written on her shoulder or arm.
It makes me grin, every time I see the tour name - and I love the company even more, because the Holland Ladies Tour nearly folded this year, when their big sponsor pulled out - then Brainwash stepped in and saved the day! If they were in the UK, I’d get my hair cut there always!
With her hanging up her mountainbike, Compton has also confirmed that she will not be part of the United States team for the Olympic Games in London this summer. With the combination of cyclocross and mountainbike making her performances suffer, she explained that she was unlikely to make the team anyway.
“Our team hasn’t been named yet but they were looking at the WC rankings after first 4 races to select the team,” she said. “I was was too far down in those rankings to qualify and not riding well enough so Olympics wasn’t an issue for me. I think the team is named in June.”

I LOVE Zonhoven - it’s a crazy course with a huge sandpit and some scary sandy climbs & descents! If you’ve never watched cyclocross before, watch this!
