Middlekerke, on the north coast of Belgium as the scene for the last round of the Super Prestige cyclo-cross. I don’t get to start many of these races, so it was a nice surprise to get a call mid week to say I was on the start.

It’s a fun course; nothing too taxing. It was about minus 4 billion last year. I wore most of my clothes and my contact lenses froze to my eyes. It wasn’t a good look, but because of the contact lenses issue, I couldn’t see, so I didn’t care. Today was mild though, 7 degrees and motivation was high.

Merry Crossmas!  It’s the latest episode of Dan’s and my podcast - this time interviewing the British cyclocross superstar, Helen Wyman.  Here’s Dan’s description:

So the fantastic Helen Wyman joined us after a big weekend of racing, at Essen and Namur to talk ‘cross. She gives us a great preview of the Lousville worlds, designs her perfect cross course and talks about how she’d haunt her husband (my mancrush Stef Wyman) if she died before him. We had a great time talking with Helen and learned a lot about where the state of women’s cyclocross is at and where she sees the future of the sport too. Thanks to Helen for making the time. You really do want to listen to this one! It’s perfect for that drowsy time post-Christmas lunch. (01:01:05 MIN / 58.65 MB)

Click through to our blog for all the links that go with the ‘cast.  Happy a superb whatever-winter-holiday-you-celebrate - for me, with so many races coming up, it’s Crossmas all the way!

"I love cyclocross – ever since tgsgirl first told me about this muddy, sadistic, crazy, beautiful sport, it’s intrigued me and made me very happy. And one of the reasons is the way the riders engage with fans, and all the fabulous social media we get. Riders don’t just race these exhausting, exhilarating races – they tell us all about it. So it’s time for another episode of my women’s cycling social media series, this time looking at the CX riders who give us a fantastic insight into the sport. I’ll be running this over a couple of posts, so don’t get annoyed if I’ve missed your favourite rider here – and there will be some links at the bottom to help you follow the women’s racing online – starting with how to see video from the races…"
